About Don Armstrong

Don Armstrong’s primary motivation to write and speak evolved from his life-changing battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a blood cancer. Since his healing and recovery, Don has found purpose in teaching individuals, corporations, and organizations to finish their race in all areas of life, both personally and professionally, with courage, confidence,  and grace.

Don is passionate and genuine in his presentations. When he speaks to a group, he connects with the crowd in a real and meaningful way. His goal is to inspire, motivate, and encourage participants. He will teach them how to keep a positive mindset while overcoming obstacles and improve communication by dealing with negativity.

No one is safe from adversity, but whether it’s a cancer diagnosis or a non-life-threatening event, Don furnishes sound strategies on how to set your organization up to successfully overcome it. Occasionally, we all need a reminder on how to see beyond our obstacles…

Don Armstrong’s Passions

Don speaks on behalf of Carter Blood Care at employee and donor functions. He received the Carter Blood Care 2010 Advocate of the Year Award for his outstanding commitment to the community blood supply. He has also been a member of the American Cancer Society’s Speaker Bureau.

Don is a founding board member, president, and race director for the Honored Hero Run, which raises awareness and dollars to support the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This annual event has donated over $147,000 to LLS since it began in 2009.

Don serves as the Chairman of the Board for the North Texas Chapter of LLS . He also served as Chairman of Team In Training’s (TNT) North Texas League, Chairman of LLS’s North Texas Mission Task Force, and Chairman of the North Texas LLS Blood Cancer Conference and Expo.

As a Team in Training participant, Don has completed 22 marathons in the U.S. and internationally to raise money for LLS. He received the Chairman Citation in recognition of his outstanding efforts and support of LLS in 2013. He was also a member of LLS’s National Board of Representatives.

Don’s Book, Finish Your Race: Empower Your Life with Strategies from a Cancer Survivor was published in 2017. It is dedicated to those who who’ve lost their battle, those who are still fighting, and all the individuals that are racing for a cure. A portion of the proceeds of the book are donated to LLS.

Don is an agronomic consultant in the golf course industry and was a founding partner of the Golf Resources Group, a golf course consulting firm.  Don holds a degree in Agronomy from Virginia Tech and lives in Fort Worth, Texas.
